Don't Stop The Noise - #FreeGary

Gary_mckinnon
As a mother of ASD children, Gary McKinnon's case frightens me, knowing the level of obsession that can be reached, how unaware Aspergers folk can be of repercussions and consequences - but how much of an impact negative circumstances can affect mental health - when I read about Gary's case, and the political frustrations that surround it - my heart aches for Gary and his family. I can quite easily see how Gary's computer skills coupled with UFO obsession landed him where he is, but it beggars belief that he is still there, in limbo for so long, with so little damage actually done to the US government, apart from long standing embarrassment that they obviously want to punish him for.  With all the current traumas, crimes and upheaval in the world right now - what sense does it make for Gary to be away from his family still after ten years - and to be extradited, with the realistic outcome of this man's suicidal intentions - and how fixed they must be in his mind.  Criminals who committed more serious and harmful crimes to actual real live people, with intention & awareness - have received far less punishment, and are now back with their families going about their lives.

I'm beginning to think the political bodies have some kind of autistic spectrum issue - can they not bend their fixed minds ? Have they no ability to see the outcome of their actions ? Have they no theory of mind ? Do they not realise what everyone else can see as perfect sense ?

Do you have a blog? Do you support the fight against injustice and wish to help us prevent a Miscarriage of Justice against a UK Family?

Then if you are on wordpress you can ‘reblog’ this with two clicks. If you are not on WordPress you can copy and paste it and then share it with all your friends.

#FREEGARY NEEDS YOU! We need you to help us during the upcoming Presidential visit to the UK.

Let me explain – during the Presidents visit – theres a very high possibility that the #OBAMA hashtag will trend here in the UK and we want to get as many #Freegary tweets into the #Obama stream as possible.

In order to do that we need to spread the word and time is getting short. This is a great opportunity to end Gary’s mental suffering and the agony his family have endured, and continue to endure, under the threat of Gary’s extradition to the United States where he faces up to 70 years in a US Max Security prison.

Nick clegg himself said “If he boards the plane to the U.S., it is almost certain he will never set foot on British soil again, doomed to pass out the rest of his days in shackles on a foreign shore. This is nothing short of a disgrace” ….(August 2009)

Gary will not come home- we need to ensure he never gets on that plane!

So, we need you to blog this and get the word out – and for those of us on twitter – we need you totweet and retweet all of the #Freegary #Obama tweets which will be appearing in the ‘Freegary’ stream during President Obama’s visit.

David Cameron – “It should still mean something to be a British citizen – with the full protection of the British Parliament, rather than a British Government trying to send you off to a foreign court”….(July 2009)

Once you have blogged this on your own blog site – send a link – and we will retweet it amongst the growing army of #Freegary supporters on Twitter and on Facebook.

You can start by retweeting this blog – using the buttons available – please share it far and wide.

#Freegary is NOT Anti-American -it is Anti-American policy and believes that the 10 years Gary and his family have waited is 10 years TOO long! Please join us – and help us to Keep Gary Home! You can get all of the information and background to Garys case from the Freegary website –http://freegary.org.uk

You can also send tweets of support to Garys Mother on twitter.

The Hill, The Ball and The Pain

(download)
So yes I sign up to do a bit of "charity" work, as well as bagging myself a wee bit of fun in the process - at the time, I think - doddle, nae bother, me and spinning round and round are made for each other. As the day approaches, I get twitchy, but perhaps this is more due to me deciding to "not smoke anymore". Hmm, the reality of a fag free existence is way scarier than the zorbing by the time the event actually happens.

On the day of the Zorbing - I haven't smoked for 5 days, but have chewed through most of the furniture, attached several packets of patches to any free flesh I have, and now loiter around smokers breathing deeply and looking pitifully at their delights. Things are going swimmingly.

The time comes when I have to backward birth myself into an incredibly warm plastic sphere, get strapped in in a most unappealing manner - and get my ex into the giant hamster toy as well. My poor wee lass volunteered to fill the missing space in the ball, and tried as she did, got to the point of being strapped in - and then decided she really didn't want to do it AT ALL - no big shock there then, better than picking up the pieces for the rest of forever.

The look on my ex's face I feel probably mirrored mine exactly - one of "is this really happening", and I feel this was a fair response - the roll went swiftly, bumpily and crunchingly fast, apparantly we did alot of bouncing and hit the landrover on the way down too. This is not a usual part of the event, but lucky us, we crammed in a vehicle hit (bonus 50 points) -  probably due to my general lack of geographical skills.

We get out, eventually, seen as the exits on these balls are clearly not designed for those who occassionally enjoy the world of pie - and in a shaken but happy-our-vertebrae-are-still-intact kind of way, have a good old laugh about the whole event. I did it, we did it, and am happy to say I won't be rushing to do it again.

Since home, I've had three splendid ciggies - and thoroughly felt their benefit.

Anyone who feels compelled to donate any form of penny or pound, can still do so by clicking here. Huge thankyous to all who already have, I and others totally appreciate your support.

The Best Pet Has No Limbs

Ahh the joy of reptiles - a perfect pet - no noise, no fur, no walkies in the chucking Scottish weather. Just the constant impressive movement of a most able creature getting to where it wants to be, but without any arms or legs. I love my snake (my daughter and I's) snake. He's such a slinky wee man and his colours very nearly match my couch. I highly recommend you get yourself a slinky thing at some point in your life, but give it a name less atrocious than Fang, please.

What Happens When The Sun Comes Out

The tiniest smidge of sunshine in Perth and we're all like dafties. Everyone I spoke to today was so full of appreciation for the dose of sun, and although I didn't actually speak to the ducks (though my kids did obviously) I'm sure they were happy to about the sniff of Spring - today was the first day of the year their pond has been totally swimmable in due to a never ending frozen lid.

It doesn't matter who or how you are, feeding the ducks is the simple pleasure that always brings good feelings. The ducks win, you win, everyone wins. For the price of a loaf of bread - go get yourself some goodness and feed your local beaked friends.

A Honey Of A Day

Somedays just come together like an insanely easy jigsaw made up of beautiful edges, and smooth pieces brimming with helpful clues. Today was one of those rare days, and I thank the universe for all the moments in it.  Admittedly, I crammed too much in it, and by all accounts it could have gone grotesquely wrong - but with some cunning time management and brisk tantrum avoidance, so much was enjoyed, achieved and devoured. Double haircuts at the eternally user friendly Honeypot Cafe and Hairdressers in where ? Perth, Scotland - and whilst the intriguing and delicious red velvet cake sure helped proceedings along, the general vibe of the place generally sorts out the happy snipping anyway.

We arrived in fair spirits to start with, after a hilarious pigeon feeding moment that which may have disturbed passers by - but brought so much laughter and joy to both my own brood as well as the local winged rats, the general health and safety aspect just wasn't an issue. Pigeons need love too.

Foggy Woods Fix Foggy Heads

Surprising how a sudden turn can find the answer that you don't know you've been looking for. A calling to the local Carving Woods as named imaginatively by my kids, turned into a deeply satisfying stomp around some very wet and foggy woodland, re discovering a stoic friend I hadn't seen for some time. How I need trees, and all the grounding goodness they bring - in all seasons.

Joining In With Burns Night Action

This memorials is one to Robert Burns Begg, the local sherrif-clerk and grand nephew of Robert Burns , Scotland’s national poet. It can be found in Loch Leven Churchyard - one of the most splendid kirks I've had the pleasure to visit.  Off to prepare ma' haggis, neeps and tatties whilst wearing ma' kilt and blue face paint, aye right.
